The Engagement

Our lives changed in a big way on September 26, 2008. We were going to Rumor's Comedy Club that night for a friend's birthday but had time to spare before we had to be there. Mike suggested going out for dinner to Pasta La Vista, one of my favourite restaurants, because it was closing down that weekend and it would be our last chance to go. So I was excited to do that but was figuring out the logistics because the reservations were pretty early and Rumor's wasn't until later so I was wondering what we'd do in between. Mike mentioned that we could go to Assiniboine Park and walk around. I thought that was kind of strange so I was very suspicious of him and his intentions for that evening.

We had a lovely dinner and then headed to Assiniboine Park. We walked for a short time in the Leo Mol Garden and then Mike stopped me and just popped the question! It was very sweet and exciting and I cried - and of course said yes! We went back to the truck and called our parents and my Mom insisted we come home before going to Rumor's. So we quickly headed to Mike's house where my parents would meet us too so we could see everyone at once and save some time.

We were so excited to share our news with our friends and family. It's still fun to tell the story and show off my ring. (it is beautiful, by the way!) I hope we never lose the feeling we've had these last few months of our engagement. It's been so special and we're so thankful to not only have each other but also have the love and support of our friends and family and those loved ones to share in our joy. It definitely wouldn't be as special if we didn't have those people to share it with.
